The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - OST

The American version of the film, which I don't know if it goes back to the novel or is a remake of the ealier (by not very long) version, has a soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and like The Social Network which they worked on previously there's a free six track sampler available. Given that the full soundtrack is three CDs, it's not surprising that the sampler is over half and hour long.

And it's very good film music, there's very little in the way of "songs", it's atmospheric electronica to work with enhance the scene rather than lead it.

The full soundtrack is available now as a download, with a triple CD set coming laster in the year and the deluxe versions in 2012. There's about three hours of music, though only two "songs" - the first track is Immigrant Song, the last track is Is Your Love Strong Enough?

All pretty much like the sampler, it's a style that I don't think will get people liking if they don't already like, but it's very well suited to the theme and the look of this version of the book.

The remake was done for money, the same reason American networks buy foreign tv show rights and make their own version of it. You have control over the income if you make your own version. If you import, you get no money outside advertising sales. With films, there's fees from streaming, rentals and sales.
