Funny Girls

Many many apologies for the disappearance, but things have been so so hectic, both in good ways and bad, but at least I am back.

So many apologies to the people I was supposed to contact but haven't yet, I am c**p at this electronic messaging thing, I admit it.

Just a quick note to say I am really enjoying this radio series. Sadly I missed the first biography on Hylda Baker (which I am gutted about as I know very little about her private life except that was supposedly very difficult to work with and died alone with only a couple of people turning up for her funeral). The Hattie Jacques programme was brilliant and informative, and the last one (I think) about Beryl Reid, is on this evening, although I'll miss it because I am broadcasting myself tonight.

So, anyway, this is the return of cult-moves, I'm sorry I have been away, and I will try not to let it happen for so long again.

All the best to everyone on this site.

Listened to the last programme in this series, on Beryl Reid, on iplayer. Very very good. Excellent series.

Great news, this series is back with 3 brand new biographies. This time they are concentrating on American funny ladies, and the first programme featuring Lucille Ball was very good indeed. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Maybe this idea continue for a while, but how many other funny ladies could they feature who have all had a long and lasting career in comedy ?

I think they could probably do a few anyway. I haven't heard this one yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I really loved the last series.

It was good Janaru, totally agree with you on that, but I missed the Hylda Baker episode which was a shame.

I think potential future subjects could include - Joan Sims, Joyce Grenfell, and of course Barbara herself.

Oh yeah, that would be fine. smiling smiley

I'm sure they'll repeat the first ones, Cult. I'll try and remember to post if they do so you can catch Hylda.

Bless you, thanks so much. x

I would love it if the BBC did repeat it.

I will bet you they will repeat the series within twelve months like they did with They Write the Songs.
