I wrote this today.

Happy Birthday Michael Angelo!
Top painter and decorator
you made a good job of that Sistine Chapel ceiling
Daniel is going to do our bedroom
now that the fitted wardrobe has been installed
Not in the same class obviously
but better with wallpaper

A young lady once went out to luncheon
with a policeman who showed her his truncheon
he thought that she should,
while they waited for food,
have something substantial to munch on

So if you go for lunch with a copper
Don't ask him to take out his chopper
For as this lady saw
The long arm of the Law
Can be used to do something improper

Who wanted to be on the telly
He tried and he failed
Then eventually nailed
The art of deep frying a jelly

Following Ivor's contributon :-

She went singing this sad little ditty
"Oh what a shame and a pity
Its such disgrace
that they mean to replace
ME with a flaming Committee"

In English, haiku is normally written in three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the third line.

Perhaps I should have said:

It may be an alias,
the name Kronalias,
But if he like you,
He'll write you a Haiku.

One thing that I would like is more than you and I, Rum, offering Clerihews.

I can't write haiku
this is my first try at it
and it's not that good

Yes Ivor, I agree, clerihews are very easy and fun. You don't need to worry about metre at all, just two rhyming couplets. Generally the first line should state the person's name and the second line should rhyme with the name but, hey, we can do what we like here thumbs up

Edmund Clerihew Bentley
Invented clerihews accident'ly
During a school experiment
And thereby inspired much merriment.

Doesn't work for a Haiku
It's really not on.

Who are obviously keen to eat meet.

And now want to find out if mine tastes as good.
