In the NASA Science News today, their was an interesting story about a website that was unveiled at the Copenhagen conference.
Tru, may already know about this, with her E-zine and all, but it was news to me, and a good idea imo. It's a sort of clearinghouse for the latest scientific information (without the spin either way) about the Earth's climate. It's called Climate One Stop.
Anyhoo, it's there if you're interested.

Rain is forecast over here though, but if the sky is clear at any time it'll be worth keeping an eye out. Special New Year circumstances indeed.
And the point about Cecilia Sarkozy's brother seemed to me to be that the "power corrupts ... absolutely" maxim was more contagious and spread further than one would readily imagine! ... And more's the pity when the financial manager has been picked from across the Atlantic ocean!

Oh we're doing juuust fine in the corruption department, sadly enough. She couldn't have done much worse. If I recall correctly NASA's had their share of "interesting" things they've done all on their own.
Shame about the rain I guess the three together (Blue Moon, New Years Eve, Eclipse) only happens every ninety-one years!

FIRST METEORS OF 2010: The annual Quadrantid meteor shower peaks on Jan. 3rd around 1900 UT (2 p.m. EST) when Earth passes through a stream of debris from shattered comet 2003 EH1. The timing of this northern shower favors observers in eastern Europe and Asia. Bright moonlight will interfere with the display, which can reach 100+ meteors per hour under ideal conditions.

A Blue Moon is kind of a misnomer. It just means two full moons in one month, which is rare. Don't know why they call it a "Blue" Moon unless some of them are actually blue. I should look that up. Maybe they're just a bit on the bawdy side
