Imcidental Music That Turns You Off....

There is much mention of folk trying to find out the music included in plays as incidental music, but there are occasions with me that it turns me off the programme - well maybe not the play, but the music is an irritant.

Right now we have another playing of "Bolt" by Dick Francis, and this has been mentioned before on the R7 boards, and the music is probably okay in another setting, but it doesn't sit well in this one (for me at least).

The theme music pops up too many times in the Rumpole series, mind you its okay - but pops up too much within the story.

The Scarifyers music just goes on too long, and it is worse in the released CD versions.

But the incidental music in the various Paul Temple series is at times inventive and always interesting, and evoking of the time a particular series was made.

Any thoughts.........

Yeah, I've had a few like that. The one that springs into mind is the blues song in Agatha Christie's - Sad Cypress. I like the music but the singer drives me 'round the bend. tongue sticking out smiley

One that I absolutely love is the music for Doctor Syn. It sets the mood for the story beautifully!

(Dr. Syn Music: 'Captain Blood (Main Theme)' or Suite 2 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold from music score for 1930's film Captain Blood.)

Though a probable need to include so much incidental music is the script is a little short and the time left needs a little padding....
