Yes.

And to make matters worse, I cheated, by Googling to see if there were a track with that title. I'll make amends by actually seeking out a Sparks album sometime - I've heard good things about them, but only remember their one big UK hit, their robotic stares, and Ron Mael's Hitler moustache.

Thanks for explaining that one. If you hadn't, I'd never gotten the joke, which would have been a shame! smiling smiley

Heart of Oak - I left my heart in an English garden.

I could also have left it in San Francisco of course (although it would have been pretty careless) but I am trying to go for a double connection and hearts of oak is terribly English.

I don't know that song, Penny. Who sang it?

English Country Garden

Come into the garden Maud. Written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and sung by many - including Webster Booth

As for who sang the previous one, it's one of Pen's favourite singers - 'Traditional'.

Tickle "I left my heart in an English garden,
there where the OAK and the elm tree grow"

Just one that I vaguely remembered - but couldnt remember the singer.Google comes up with Edmund Hockridge. Its the sort of party piece that Hinge and Bracket would have in their repertoire - just to prove my old fogey credentials!

Ivor: I told you the singer of Come into the Garden Maud on another thread - one of your favourites Joyce Grenfell (with Norman Wisdom) .......................never listens to a word I say 'e dont..................... spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Smoke gets in your eyes > Your eyes are the eyes of a woman in love - Frankie Laine

Tickle: One of the first records - possibly the first LP - I bought as a teenager was a Seekers compilation and in those days teenagers could afford very few so I played it over nd over and over and the songs on it are still among the first that come to mind and among my favourites (to complement my "old fogey" image)
