I wasn't sure whether to post this here or on movie phorum ... cause it's TV - a BBC 4 Arena film.
It's a beautiful (if heartbreaking) film.
We see Amy Whitehouse in a tiny church in Ireland, singing to an audience of only 80 people, with a backing band of only guitar and bass. She looks so young, so vibrant, so in love with music - and she's so cheeky and funny. The voice is devilish angelic.
If you're interested in her at all - or only curious about all the fuss (I mean the good fuss - about her talent) I highly recemmend you watch this.
Off stage she talks in an open, enthusiastic, fascinating way about the musicians who inspired her - and about her determination to forge ahead with her next album.
This was filmed in 2006, The album never got made.
I'm still not as convinced as many are about her gift for songwriting - but as a singer her gift was extraordinary. She could have become one of the truly greats. See what I mean about heartbreaking?
